Heeeellooo Hog-friend, Tom here!
Hear that echo in my hello?! It’s because me and Lily are adventuring in the Grand Canyon, Arizona!
Lily has been snap…snap…snapping phots left, right, up and downwards! We took a tour to see the views! I did some research and it turns out the Canyon is 277 miles long and about 6,000 feet deep – oinks! Check out Lily’s pictures – it’s spectacular!
It was formed a loooong time ago by the water of the Colorado river. Lily and I agree that it’s crazy how much power water can create! The Canyon has volcanic rock (dried lava from volcanos), limestone and other sediments.
Do you know what ‘sediment’ is?! I had to look it up! It’s when sand and mud and other stones are gathered together and over time, are compressed into rock. The results incredible! Rainbow colors, shadows, jagged edges. It’s like the most beautiful painting… you can spend all day looking at it!
I found out there’s hidden caves and even a real city in the Canyon! Out of 355 discovered caves, one is open to see – the Cave of the Domes! Lily and I didn’t have time to go, but maybe next time…
We’d better head off now! But oinks, Lily and I can’t wait to tell you about our next adventure!
Hey friend, Tom here!
I can barely hear my own voice over the noise from our latest destination! Do you know what that loud, thundering water-sound is? It’s Niagara Falls, on the border of Canada and New York State!
Lily and I are up on a platform – trying to not get soaked! – right next to the flowing water. It’s incredible!
Niagara Falls is actually 3 waterfalls; The Horseshoe Falls, which is the largest, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls, which is the smallest. They all tumble down together into the Niagara River. And it’s massive! According to my research, the height of the Falls is 176 feet and it’s 1,060 feet wide – can you believe it?!
Lily’s getting some amazing pics – which one’s your favorite?! All 3 waterfalls drain water from the Great Lakes and move at over 150,000 gallons per second. And the power of the Falls makes tons of energy – enough to power 3.8 million houses – oinks!
Gotta go for now, friend! See you on our next hog-tastic adventure!
Hello Oinksters, Lily here!
Sugar and spice, and everything nice…that’s what Candytopia is made of! I couldn’t believe it either, until Tom and I saw it! We went to Candytopia in LA, but it’s a ‘moving event' and will go to other cities soon…maybe even yours!
Candytopia is a super awesome event with 12 rooms where everything is made out of - you guessed it – CANDY! From the candy cloud room to a room with flying candy unicorns to a room with a candy rainbow river and candy rainbow surfboards!
While you can touch and play with the candy in each room, you can’t the displays, of course. But you can eat tons of candy handed out - oinka-licious!
My fave was the Marshmallow pit…all white and squishy and fun (though not made of actual marshmallows)! Tom’s favorite was the Underwater room. I snapped a pic of a hammerhead shark made of candy! What do you think of it? Great photography huh?! Not to oink my own horn.
We have to go now for more sugary fun! See you on the candy road!
Hiya Hogs, Lily here!
Ding….dong….ding!! Do you know what that ringing sound is? If you guessed a bell, you’re right! Tom and I are in Philadelphia today, checking out the Liberty Bell and the Franklin Institute!
Now, this bell is broken and doesn’t actually ring! It has a large crack which happened in the early 1800s. This Liberty Bell is an important symbol for American history. The words “Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof’ were carved into the bell. Do you know what ‘liberty’ means? If you said ‘freedom’, you’re right – nice job!
The Franklin Institute is named after Benjamin Franklin and is a super cool science museum. Benjamin lived in the 1700s and was a huge part of the founding of the country and an oink-tastic scientist! Ever hear of his famous kite-and-lightning experiment? If not, you should check it out!
The museum was soooo cool! They have a huge model of a brain you can go inside of and climb around! At night, we went to the Institute’s Observatory and looked at stars and planets through the humongous telescope! Have you ever looked at the night sky through a telescope?!
Okay friend, Tom and I have to dash! Here’s hoping we see you on our next adventure!
Hi Friend! I'm Lily (with the glasses!) and this is my best friend and fellow traveler, Tom!
We love exploring new places and meeting new people. That includes hogs like us, other kinds of animals and humans, like you!
In each new place, Tom and I adventure out to try new foods and fun activities! Tom is an amazing cook and likes to re-make the new dishes we've tried at home :)
Now, I'm not good at cooking but I am good at photography! I take a zillion pictures wherever we go! Tom and I make an awesome team. I like to go, go, go, and he likes to take his time to look, read and study - it's perfect!
We're excited to share our pics, fun facts and exciting stories with you! You never know where we'll head to next - maybe your town!
Follow our journey and join in on the fun! If you happen to see us on the road, give an oink and a wave!
